This lovely pictorial map of France was designed by Lucien Boucher for French bank Credit Lyonnais. Cities with a main branch of Credit Lyonnais are identified by a yellow banner and accompanied by an illustration of one of the city's defining architectural works. Overseas branches are located with green banners and sub-branches with a white star. In addition to the architectural illustrations, the landscape is filled with idyllic vignettes of the French countryside. Ships and fish fill the surrouding waters. Instead of a title cartouche, there is a large advertisement for Credit Lynonnais at bottom left, with a vignette emphasizing both French history and tradition and the industrial present. The composition also features a large ornate compass rose. Printed in Paris by Perceval.

Boucher (1889-1971) was a French commercial artist inspired by the Surrealists. He found regular work designing movie posters and other advertisements, but he is best known for his series of posters for Air France.
