A detailed plan of this fortified city along the Tiber River. Names all streets and scores of individual buildings/ruins including the Coliseum, Ruins of the Palace of the Cesars, and Baths of Caracalla. Across the river is Vatican City, including the Basilica and Piazza of San Pietro and Mausoleum of Hadrian. A note at bottom right indicates that "the antient monuments and ruins are marked in a deeper tint," and a key at left locates 16 hotels. Engraved by J. & C. Walker.
