Superb map of the Roman Empire covering most of Europe, Northern Africa, and the Near and Middle East. The map is richly decorated with several strapwork cartouches, two containing portraits. The cartouches in the lower section of the map contain an account of Roman history including a large genealogical tree of Roman kings. At top right is a quotation from Vitrivius identifying this as the second state of the map. Latin text on verso.

Condition: A

Light and even overall toning with a couple of tiny spots in wide margins. Very attractive later color.
