36. Canada (Nova Scotia and New Foundland), John Tallis, London, [1853]. 13 x 10.25". (OC) Fine steel engraved map with a delicately engraved border and vignettes of Halifax, Cod Fishery of Newfoundland, two colonial seals and two dogs. Light foxing. (B) $70

37. Canada (East Canada, and New Brunswick), John Tallis, London, [1853]. 13.5 x 10". (OC) Fine steel engraved map of the St. Laurence River with a delicately engraved border and vignettes of Quebec, North American Indians, and a bison. Light toning on fold. (A) $ 100

38. Canada (British America), John Tallis, London, 1853. 13 x 10.25". (OC) Fine steel engraved map of the whole of present day Canada. Decorative border and vignettes of Esquimaux, the ships Fury and Hecla, polar bears, whale fishing, a seal and a nice view of Montreal. Minor toning on centerfold. (A)  Illustrated above.   $125

(Russian America) to below Puget Sound, and east to Flathead Lake and Lesser Slave Lake. The U.S. Canadian border is noted as being settled in 1846 with Britain retaining the right to navigate the Columbia R. Names many forts & Indian tribes. Keyboard border. (A) $ 70

(PC) Attractive, early REPRINT of this famous & important map of Canada by Capt. John Carver. Insets of the Isles of Montreal, Plan of Montreal and the City of Quebec. Large title cartouche. (OC) Interesting map of the eastern part of North America with France in control of present-day Canada, except Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, and also the Louisiana Territory, between the Mississippi River and New Mexico, and of the Neck of Florida. Many settlement, fort and Indian village names. Simple title block & small compass rose, original color. (A+) $400 reserve.  Click thumbnail for full sized image.  $500-550

Canada and United States (Partie Occidentale du Canada et Septentrionale de la Louisiane avec une partie de la Pensilvanie), d’Anville/Santini, Atlas Universel, Venice, 1775. 22.5 x 19". (OC) Fine copper engraved map of the GREAT LAKES region with numerous place and Indian names. D’Anville dominated not only French, but all contemporary geographers of the second half of the 18th century. According to Tooley "His representation of the Great Lakes is superior to that of his contemporary, John Mitchell". On fine thick paper with a very fine impression. Faint toning on fold, else fine. 44. Canada & United States (Carte Generale des Etats-Unis, Du Canada et D’une Partie des pays adjacents), A.H. 83-044.JPG (92775 bytes)Brue, Paris, 1825. 19.75 x 14". (OC) Very uncommon, finely engraved map covering all the present United States and southern parts of Canada. The western territories include Ter. Du Nord Quest encompassing WI & MN, a large Arkansa (sic) which encompasses most of present day OK. The rest of the west is a huge Territoire Oregon. Mexico controls Texas and the Southwest. The northern border of the U.S. extends far into present day British Columbia. In the west are two large lakes, Lac Timpanogo and Teguyo L. Sale from which flow three rivers with notes on their reported navigability. Beautiful original outline color, on heavy paper with very wide margins & the royal seal below the script title. 45. Canada & United States (Map of the Vicinity of the North West Point of the Lake of the Woods [together with] Reconnaissance Map No. VI), United States Northern Boundary Comm., [1878]. (BW) Pair of folding maps detailing the boundary between the United States and Canada. The first (9.2 x 17.7") is a small scale map locating the Reference Monument. Has a tear entering 3" into a blank area of the map, repaired with cello tape. The second depicts the region between Lake of the Woods and approximately Winnipeg and Ft Pembina. Many wagon roads, Indian villages and other points of interests. Fine condition. (A)$80
