Second state of Bertius's map of the Canadian eastern seaboard. The map was directly derived from Plancius milestone map of the North Atlantic, which depicted Newfoundland as a single island for the first time. This great miniature map is decorated with a strapwork title cartouche and a large sea monster. Latin text on verso.

Condition: B

Faint damp stain at lower right.
