Vellum leaf from this important transitional period when books began to be printed from movable type and decorated with metal cut illustrations. Thielman Kerver was a printer in Paris, who worked "in vico sancti Iacobi/ad signum Vnicornis & ibidem venales habent" (in Saint Jacob's lane in the sign of the Unicorn where they are also for sale). The text is from the Hours of the Cross, the Passion of Our Lord, St. John 19:5. Within the text are three pictures, related to the story, while the decorations in the margins are not related.
