Written by Captain M. A. Healy, the most famous of Alaska's Revenue Cutter Service captains. The early cruises of these cutters in Alaskan waters are legendary for the extent of the voyages, the conditions they were conducted under, and the bravery of the crews. Also included are Cantwell's Exploration of the Kowak River, the "New Volcano" in the Bering Sea, Ethnological Notes and Engineer McLenegen's Ornithological Notes. Excellent detail of the Eskimo culture, and the flora & fauna of Alaska. 128 pp., 38 illustrations from photographs & sketches, and 2 tinted lithographs of arctic birds.
