Decorative copper engraving taken from Linschoten's description of Ascension Island. The ocean is filled with delightful illustrations of sea life and a fleet of Portuguese ships. The sheet is then richly embellished with a beautiful compass rose and two elaborate cartouches.

Margin replaced at top. Backed with Japanese tissue to strengthen paper and repair several worm tracks in the blank margins.
