This scarce chart details the region from the Caspian Sea in the west, east to Japan, south to show Tibet and north to the Arctic Ocean. The map is dominated by bold topographical features including several large lakes. The Great Wall is delineated, as well as the Gobi Desert. Korea is shown as an elongated peninsula. Cantelli introduced this bold engraving style that was followed and further developed by Coronelli. The title carries a dedication to Jean-Baptiste Tavernier and Jean de Thevenot. A large and decorative title cartouche is accentuated with a mounted warrior, solider with shield, woman and child.
