This handsome small map is a reduced and revised version of Sanson's folio map of North America (1650). The map presents California as an island, but the coastline to the northwest of California is now named Terre de Iesso, rather than reflecting his earlier belief that it was an extension of the American continent. The R. de Nort drains into the Gulf of California from a large interior lake in the country of Los Apaches. The two westernmost Great Lakes are left open-ended and Lake Erie remains unnamed. Engraved by A. d'Winter.

Small, inconspicuous worm holes at lower center have been professionally infilled, a couple affecting a few lines of engraving.
