Three beautifully rendered and highly detailed plans of fortified cities. The first, Plan of Dieppe with the New Fortifications and Projected Works (12 x 7.7") shows oyster beds, jetties, a gallows, and the suburbs of La Barre and Pollet. The second is the uncommon, Plan of the City and Harbour of Toulon. (12.1 x 7.9") which focuses on the city and its extensive defenses. The third, Plan of the City and Castles of St. Malo(10.3 x 7.3") shows Fort Royal, Grand Bay Fort, and Petit Bay Fort with a huge complex of fortifications. A note near the lower margin says "This city was enlarged by taking in the GREVE since 1715". Interestingly, the scales on each of these maps are in fathoms.
