This volume of the report contains 16 folding and two half-page maps, along with 16 diagrams. Map of a Part of Washington Territory shows the majority of the population west of the Cascades and little more than military outposts and unexplored areas to the east. Sketch of the Public Surveys in New Mexico centers on Santa Fe, and shows the locations of numerous towns, reservations and forts including Union, Bliss and Defiance. This map also shows the Spanish Trail that ran between Los Angeles and Santa Fe. This particular volume is quite difficult to find, and will certainly pique the interest of many collectors of Americana. Original hardbound in brown leather with gilt titling on red and black leather on spine. 8vo. Complete.

Most of the maps have small binding tears and fold separations, a few separations are large. Folds are toned and maps have scattered foxing. Covers are scuffed and shelf worn. Corners are bumped and spine has some loss with hinges separating. Binding still tight. Still a great copy given its age.
