This lovely bird's-eye view of Lisbon from the Tagus River shows the city as it was before the 1755 earthquake that levelled much of the older parts of the city. The streets are filled with minutely engraved buildings; 34 points of interest are keyed to a table below. An astonishing variety of ships and boats fill the foreground.
