Nice lot of copper engraved illustrations from I and II Kings, II Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Proverbs, Jeremiah and with captions in Dutch text. The majority of the sheets have two images on each. The pictures were drawn and engraved by the famous Dutch artist Romain de Hooghe and published by Jacob Lindenberg.
1) I en II Koningen. This shows scenes from Kings I and II, including Elijah being taken up in a whirlwind by the Lord.
2) II Koningen. This shows scenes from Kings II, with the top scene showing the angel of the Lord sending death into the Assyrian camp.
3) II Kronyken. This is from the second book of Chronicles, parts 30-36, detailing a scene of Passover in the top and the fall of Jerusalem at bottom.
4) II Kronyken. This is from the second book of Chronicles, part 36, showing the sacking of Solomon's Temple.
5) Esdras is from the book of Ezra, with scenes from parts 1-10.
6) Nehemia is from the book of Nehemiah, showing scenes from parts 1, 2, 4, 13, and 18.
7) Ester Scenes from Esther, parts 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 9.
8) Spreuken Salomons depicts portions of the book of Proverbs, parts 3, 8, 10, 12, and 23.
9) Jeremias shows scenes from the book of Jeremiah, parts 18, 19, 36, 38, and 43.
10) Predirer shows a crowded allegorical scene, above a memento mori engraving of bones surrounding a medallion of St. John.
