This is an uncommon map of the islands of St. Margarite and St. Honorat in the bay of Cannes. The islands were fortified to protect the coast of Provence in the early seventeenth century. In 1635, the Spanish invaded and expanded the fortifications. This map illustrates the French campaign against the Spanish that resulted in the return of the islands to French control in 1637. A key to the map is below the title and a large inset map depicts the islands and coastline from Cap d'Antibes to Theoule-sur-Mer.
