Charming double hemisphere celestial map based on the observations of Philippe de la Hire, a famous French astronomer whose work was often published by Nicolas de Fer. La Hire was one of the first to present the full celestial skies in a double hemisphere format. The twin hemispheres feature the allegorical representations of the constellations. Above and below are numerous small diagrams of the Sun, Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Mercury and the Moon from the observations of Cassini, Kircher, and Galileo. This map contains no attribution; however, representations of La Hire's maps are known to have been published by Le Rouge, Chiquet, and De Guignes.
