This edition of Burr's map shows very limited settlement. The handsome map has full original wash color and keyboard-style border. It delineates roads, towns, villages and settlements, ports, swamps, watershed and more. The map shows approximately 23 counties and a road system emanating from Little Rock. Locates Little Rock, the La Fayette Court House and a few other small towns or villages. Two salt works and Sulphur Springs are identified. Burr was appointed to be topographer to the U.S. Post Office Department in 1832 and was unable to complete the maps for this atlas. Thomas Illman assumed responsibility to complete the atlas, publishing it in 1835 using the New York publishing firm of D.S. Stone. The imprint of Thomas Illman is below the neatline.
