Centered on the riverside town of Namur at the confluence of the Meuse and Sambre Rivers, this map is based on the once secret map of Jacques Surhon (1555). It is beautifully engraved to show the cities, bridges, villages and forests and features magnificent title and distance scale cartouches. A third cartouche depicts a musketeer displaying a very unique compass rose. Dutch text on verso.
