This is a handsome bird's-eye plan of Moscow. The city is situated at the junction of the Moskva and Neglinnaya Rivers, which form a moat protecting all but the northeast flank of the Kremlin. The map shows the Kremlin and old city, Kitay-gorod, at center. These are surrounded by successive rings of fortifications. All the churches are graphically depicted with a German church and abbey shown outside the city walls. A key at left provides a brief description and a key at right locates 49 important sites within the city.
