Currier and Ives was a printmaking company based in New York City from 1834-1907, producing black and white lithographs. The focus of their work was American life, cities and people, and they often employed celebrated artists of the day to render drawings to be reproduced in print form. This striking view of West Rock Ridge in south-central Connecticut depicts a small cabin and a couple by the river at right, while cows graze at left. The imprint at bottom shows Currier and Ives' address at 152 Nassau St.

A fine impression on heavy paper, with two minute holes at right and left only visible when held to light. There is a tiny abrasion in the sky near center, and a few short tears in blank margins that have been professionally repaired.
