A beautifully engraved chart of the Azores based on Luis Teixeira's cartographic work with three ornate title cartouches and a title banner at top center. The sea is fully engraved in stipple and features a sea monster and sailing ships. Latin text on verso, published circa 1592.

References: Van den Broecke #24.

Condition: A

Watermarked paper with margins and a centerfold separation that enters map image 1/4" at top and has been closed on verso with archival tape. There are two small spots of candle wax in upper blank margin, far from map image.
