This decorative copperplate map of the Middle East extends east to include the Caspian and part of India, illustrating the eastern extent of the Roman Empire. This map originated with Delisle, but is here updated with an entirely different shape for the Caspian Sea. A large inset at upper right shows the Eastern Hemisphere, with a partial delineation of Australia, suggesting it is connected with Papua New Guinea. Decorative title cartouche with Covens & Mortier's imprint.
