This is Karl Bernhard's book of travel in the United States. After serving as a colonel during the Battle of Waterloo and the Battle of Quatre Bras, he traveled extensively in the United States in 1825-26 and published his accounts. It contains two parts in one volume and was published in Weimar by Wilhelm Hoffmann. There are 7 folding maps and city plans, and 2 basic one-page woodblock city plans (Quebec and Boston). The original folding maps and plans include two of New York City, Pittsburg, Ohio, and Plymouth, England. Two of the folding maps, Philadelphia and North America, are facsimiles. Additionally, there are also folding plans of the US Capital Building and the University of Virginia.

640 pp. (317 pp. in Part 1 and 323 pp. in Part 2). Octavo, hardbound with green cloth covered boards and paper label on spine. Text is deckle-edged.
