This sea chart depicts the Isle of Portland in the English Channel, just off the coast of Weymouth in Dorset County. The waters surrounding the island are filled with soundings, ocean currents, and navigational hazards along with numerous notes and instructions for sailing in the area. A large compass rose indicates north to the right.

Thick, hand-laid paper with wide original margins. Faint offsetting with a few minor spots.
