This uncommon Italian map depicts the northwestern portion of South America. Lake Maracaibo, the city of Maracaibo, and the Gulf of Venezuela are all prominently shown. The map extends to part of present-day Colombia, with Cartagena and Santa Maria identified not just as cities, but as regions. A beautiful title cartouche adorns the top left corner.
