Superb map of Ceylon with north oriented to the right. The island is well delineated with mountains, forests, roads, cities, forts, and temples. Adam’s Peak is prominently depicted near the center of the island. The legendary Adams Brugh (Adam's Bridge or Rama's Bridge) is clearly shown linking Mannar island off Sri Lanka with Rameswaram island of the coast of India. Decorated by a title cartouche featuring natives and an elephant. Blank verso.

Original color with an archivally repaired fold separation at bottom that enters 1.25" into the image, light soiling, and three wormholes only visible when held to light.
