This decorative sea chart depicts the southern coastline of Portugal from Cape St. Vincent to Huelva, Spain. There is good detail of the inlets along the coast, with soundings, rocks, shoals, and anchorages noted. The map is handsomely adorned with compass roses, a pair of sailing ships, and a distance scale including a merman grasping a sea monster. The title cartouche features merchants in a pastoral setting.
