This engraving shows Native Americans with their fishing vessels. At top are Native Indians from Virginia in a canoe carved from a tree trunk. At bottom are an inhabitant from Novaya Zemlya carrying a canoe while holding a spear, and an inhabitant from Greenland, whose boat is covered with a whale skin. The elaborate border was printed from a separate plate.
