This unusual pictorial map depicts the rides of Paul Revere and William Dawes from Boston to Lexington. These two "mounted messengers" warned John Hancock and Samuel Adams that the British were coming. Also depicted is Samuel Prescott's "midnight ride" to warn the townspeople of Concord of the impending British army move to capture its guns and gunpowder. The map is filled with related notes and illustrations, as well as a narrative at bottom. The verso contains a map of Boston (20x16") demonstrating "300 years of progress." Features several interesting notations in the Boston Common area including "Ducking Stool for Scolds & Railers", "Duels with Swords", "Woman Tied to Post for Beating Husband", and "Drunkard's Cloak." Published by James Fagan.
