This elegant frontispiece likely appeared in a volume of Coronelli's Atlante Veneto and symbolizes the Academy of the Argonauts (which Coronelli founded in 1680). The center of the engraving is dedicated to classical mythology with Fame trumpeting atop the world with a banner unveiling the motto "Plus Ultra." Directly below Fame, a ship sails across the top of a globe, which is supported by Hercules' club and bearskin. Surrounding this classical scene are numerous scientific instruments.
