This rare, classic sea chart covers the Brazilian coast from Rio Paraiba to Cabo S. Augustino. It is filled with rhumb lines and decorated with a sailing ship. Just off the coast, the water is filled with soundings. Natives flank the title cartouche, and merfolk surround the distance scales. North is oriented to the right.

Original color on a watermarked sheet with a few small spots and backed with archival tissue in order to repair a number of cracks made due to oxidation and to prevent any future cracking.
