This portrait of Gerard Mercator holding a globe was engraved by Frans Hogenberg in 1574. The portrait was included in Petrus Bertius' edition of Theatri Geographiae Veteris, which contained the maps from Mercator's edition of Ptolemy.

Moderate toning with a few spots of foxing.
