A. Vue de l'Isle de la Nouvelle Caledonie, by Cook/Benard, from Voyage dans l'Hemisphere Austral..., published 1778 (14.1 x 8.3"). This handsome engraving depicts natives on New Caledonia. A few shelters can be seen along with a few of the island's species of birds. Condition: A dark impression issued folding with a few negligible spots and marginal soiling.

B. Femme de la Nouvelle Caledonie, by Comte Jean F. Galoup de la Perouse, from Atlas du Voyage a la Recherche de la Perouse, circa 1799 (9.6 x 15.4"). This engraving shows a native woman of New Caledonia in a grass skirt, striking a fierce pose. Drawn by Jean Hubert Piron and engraved by Copia. Condition: A crisp impression on a watermarked sheet with minor scattered foxing that is mostly confined to unengraved areas.
