This charming little plan depicts the island of Ortygia, the historical center of present-day Syracuse on the island of Sicily. Only basic details are represented including the fortified walls and a church. A note in German above the plan discusses the earthquake of 1693 that devastated this region and resulted in approximately 60,000 deaths. Manuscript page number 172 at top.
