This compact travel guide was "undertaken in response to repeated requests from British and American tourists." The author continues "the vast extent and rapidly changing conditions of the United States make the production of a satisfactory guidebook a peculiarly difficult task." This third revised edition guidebook provides information covering routes and tour plans, sites of interest, history and statistics. Highly detailed, it includes 25 maps and 35 plans per the title page. Folding maps of the eastern United States and the whole United States are bound at the front and back of the volume respectively. 16mo, 660 pages. Red cloth with gilt titles, marbled fore-edges, and two attached ribbon bookmarks.
