This pictorial bird's-eye view of the United States Military Academy was created by James Cumberpatch. It depicts numerous buildings/places including the Cadet Chapel, Michie Stadium, Battle Monument, "Kissing Rock" and "Flirtation Walk," along with numerous vignettes of cadets in action. A note beneath the title states that "any similarity to actual places is hopefully intentional."
James Cumberpatch graduated from West Point in June, 1944 and received additional degrees as an aeronautical engineer after the war. He had a distinguished career as a pilot, including over 250 jet test flights. After he retired as a Colonel, he joined the private sector and directed the development of the “Mark III” program management software, one of the first successful software applications in the 1970s.
