This battle plan details the Siege of Turin during the War of Spanish Succession. The siege lasted from June 2 to September 7, 1706, as Savoyard Victor Amadeus and critical reinforcements from the Imperial Army held off French and Bourbon-Spanish forces. The battle marked a decisive turning point in the Italian theater of the war. Troop movements are traced, and a key in a decorative cartouche at bottom right identifies batteries and armies. Fortifications are rendered in fine detail. Engraved by James Basire.
