Unusual and very graphic map of the Strait of Gibraltar and the western Mediterranean. The map covers the coast of Spain from the Gulf of Cadiz to Almeria and San Lazaro. The Mediterranean is filled with a fabulous scene of the sea battle of August 24, 1704 between the Austrian-Spanish Allies and the Bourbons. The title is engraved onto a sea shell cartouche flanked by fanciful sea creatures. Printed on 2 joined sheets, as issued.
