This handsome circular south-polar projection depicts the continents with partial coastlines for Antarctica, Australia, and New Zealand. The incomplete Australian coastline is based on Tasman's discoveries. Antarctica appears as two vague coastlines labeled Terre Australe et Inconnues. The map also includes the southern portions of Africa and South America. Another title runs above the map: Des Terres Australes.
