This striking and uncommon historical map of Scandinavia was published in Caspar Danckwerth and Johannes Meyer's atlas devoted to the German province of Schleswig-Holstein. It is one of the three historical maps that Danckwerth prepared for the publication. Danckwerth names sources including Ptolemy, Pliny, Mela, and Solinus. The region is divided into ancient tribal districts with very few place names. There is nice topographical detail. An elaborate title cartouche fills the top left corner. A vignette of four figures surrounds the distance scale cartouche at bottom right. Masterfully engraved by Christian Rothgiesser.

A nice impression with several faint dampstains and minor scattered foxing. There are short centerfold separations confined to the top and bottom blank margins.
