This beautifully engraved view depicts the town of Chur in the Alpine Rhine Valley. It presents an idyllic scene of the oldest town in Switzerland against a gorgeous mountainous backdrop, with intricate detail of the fortifications and architecture. A lettered key beneath the lower neatline identifies a dozen sites of interest. The Plessur, a tributary of the Rhine, can be seen in the distance at right. Three hunters, dead wild goats, and some trees fill the foreground.
