An attractive lot featuring four pictorial maps of Catalina:
A. Avalon Town Santa Catalina Island California, by Wren Lister, dated 1948 (21.5 x 16.4"). A lovely bird's-eye view of Avalon Town on Santa Catalina Island that is typical of the graphic works from this period. The view shows the Casino, piers, and extends up the mountain to the Bird Park above the Golf Course. Surrounded by vignette views with Neptune and a mermaid in full color in the corners. The map self-folds with title "Souvenir Santa Catalina Island Map and Guide." The verso contains another map and a directory with places of interest listed by category. Published by the L.C.B. Co., and dated 1948. Condition: Issued folding with one tiny split at a fold junction. (A)
B. Catalina Island, by P.S. McCarty, dated 1930 (14.4 x 8.0"). This promotional brochure unfolds to show the entire island with small vignettes depicting leisure activities available on the island. Published by the Wilmington Transportation Company with related text on verso. Condition: Issued folding. (A)
C. Catalina Island “Where Every Minute Has Pleasure in It!”, by Wilmington-Catalina Airline, Ltd., dated 1933 (14.5 x 7.9"). A similar map to the above in black & white with bold orange title cartouche. Filled with illustrations showing tourist attractions. Includes time tables, fares, and promotional text on verso. Condition: Issued folding. (A)
D. Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, by Wilmington Transportation Co., dated 1914 (33.8 x 7.2"). A lovely panoramic view of Avalon with numerous boats in the bay. The verso contains text and additional illustrations. Self-folds into pictorial wrappers with the logo of the 1915 California Exposition on front and back wrapper. Condition: Issued folding with two short fold separations that have been closed on verso with archival tape. (B+)
