An attractive photographic bird’s-eye view of Manhattan and the surrounding region issued by the Hotel Edison. Locates and names numerous buildings with large red arrows pointing to the Hotel Edison and Hotel Westbury. Includes a small inset showing the street grid around the two hotels and an index at right and bottom. The hotel opened in 1931 with Thomas Edison present. Self-folding with a full-page illustration of the hotel on the front wrapper (3.7 x 9.0"). No examples located on OCLC.
After publishing Samuel Freedman’s “Supervue” map the previous year (click here for the listing), the Hotel Edison used a competitor’s photograph and published its own version here in 1934, choosing to call it a “Superairvue” map apparently to avoid a copyright issue with Freedman.
