This uncommon map focuses on the Bosphorus Straits, an important waterway between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara and the boundary between Europe and Asia. The map includes an inset of the same region that depicts the work of Count Luigi Ferdinando Marsili, an Italian scholar, soldier and emissary who traveled through Asia Minor collecting data on natural history.
