This rare map was published in a German bible by Johann Detleffsen in Minden, and is a close but slightly larger copy of Nicolas Visscher's map first published around 1650. This decorative map extends from Assyria to the Mediterranean Sea and shows the route taken by Abraham from Ur to Haran, showing the cities of Bales and Niniveh as well. The vignette at left shows Adam and Eve in Paradise with Eve being offered the apple, and a second vignette depicts their expulsion from Eden. German text on verso. Detleffsen retained Visscher's signature image of a young fisherman above the distance scale, and added the unique frame-style border around the map.

A superb, dark impression on a bright sheet with a few minor professional repairs along the centerfold and a bit of show-through of text on verso.
