This is Quad's version of Mercator's planispherical map of 1569, with the addition of the figure of Christ in an oval frame in the top left quadrant of the map. The North American continent is shown overly large and South America is depicted with the incorrect bulge on the western coast. Quad also retains the mythical islands of Groclant, Thule, Frischlant, and S. Brandam around Greenland. Large landmasses are shown at both poles, and there is a distinct Northern Passage to Asia. A boldly engraved frame border surrounds the map, containing both the title at top and a quotation from Cicero at bottom. Blank verso.

A sharp impression on a bright sheet with the watermark of a serpent on a pole. There is faint toning along the centerfold and a few spots of foxing in blank margins.
