Very unusual map covering most of Africa and extending through southern Asia to western Australia. The Indian subcontinent is rather oddly shaped and there are other outdated cartographic features, such as an unnamed Lake Chiamay with five rivers flowing south, making this a very interesting study. A handful of locations are identified along the coast of Australia based on Dutch explorations. This map was created to illustrate the travels of Nuno da Cunha, the Governor of Portuguese India. The large cartouche features River gods and occupies nearly all of the southern Indian Ocean.
