Made for a prince and lost for centuries, Mercator's 1570 Atlas of Europe was discovered in 1967 and is now in the British Library. This exquisite limited edition contains 17 unbound folio facsimile maps in full color inside an opulent green cloth portfolio tucked into a slipcase with an illustrated cover. It is accompanied by an in-depth volume (92 pp.) by an international team of map scholars and historians, edited by Marcel Watelet. The Portolan described it as "magnificent, both in content and form - a sumptuous work and a feast for the eye and mind." It was named Book of the Year and awarded ForeWord Magazine's 1998 Editor's Choice Prize for Non-Fiction.
