This small plan of Paris depicts the city following the devastating floods of December 1740. The lightly shaded portions of the map - close to half the city - indicate those areas that were under water (including places like the Louvre and Notre Dame). A small table at lower right identifies 19 places on the Ile de la Cite that had to be evacuated. Published in a volume of the Histoire de L'Academie Royale des Sciences.
