This extremely decorative map shows the southern part of North America and the northern part of South America, but focuses on Mexico, Central America, and the West Indies. The map itself (10.0 x 9.0") has a decorative title cartouche but is then surrounded by an elaborate frame with cherubs studying geography and astronomy. Panels of French text at sides. The map and outside frame were printed from two separate plates and the text was pasted in place for the specific issue of the atlas.
